David Boxwell, Counsellor/Psychotherapist

I am a qualified counsellor/psychotherapist with extensive experience in the field. I offer confidential one-to-one counselling and psychotherapy to adults (16+). My core therapeutic training is from a humanistic and integrative standpoint but my work is also influenced by psychodynamic, gestalt and CBT approaches.

As a therapist, I believe in the healing power of talking to understand the issues and difficulties we face as human beings. This can be used to identify positive steps to enable greater self-acceptance and confidence to work through the concerns that are causing anxiety and distress. To do this, my aim is to create a safe and supportive environment in which we can explore experiences, thoughts and relationships which may have led or contributed to your present feelings.  By addressing your concerns and working collaboratively, we can harness the potential inside all of us to understand ourselves and have greater self-acceptance.  I therefore see my work as a therapist as a collaboration in which I aim to support my clients in their struggle so that they can live life to its full and achieve the goals that are important to them.

I am an accredited member of both the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP). I also have an extensive background of working with large corporate/global multinational businesses so I have an in depth understanding of the pressures of modern working life.
