Focus on Shiatsu
Clients coming to see Tony Penman for shiatsu at the Natural Health Clinic benefit from his two decades of experience with this ancient oriental therapy. Now in his seventeenth year as a registered practitioner and teacher with the Shiatsu Society,he has worked for the last fifteen years here in Cathedral Road.
The mix of clients who come for shiatsu is wide in terms of age and health and this has a lot to do with the way the treatment is adapted to fit the needs of each individual client. Shiatsu is a hands-on therapy using a blend of acupressure and massage technique and, when appropriate, passive stretching techniques to free joints, relax tight muscles and promote the balance and flow of energy [known as ‘ki’ or ‘chi’] around the body.
The client is encouraged and helped to relax and the session is created to help release physical and mental tension and bring about a sense of well being.Clients have found that many stress- related physical and emotional problems have responded well to shiatsu. Clients are welcome to come in for a one- off session to experience shiatsu. If you then decide you would like to continue ,Tony can work with you to provide tailor- made treatments that address what you need for as long as you need it.
